Arthritis: What is it?Arthritis involves inflammation of one or more joints of the body, usually producing pain, redness, and stiffness. Arthritis disables more people than any other chronic disorder. A common form is osteoarthritis, a degenerative disease of the joints that commonly occurs with aging. Rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disease of unknown cause, is a progressive, crippling joint disorder most common in women between 25 and 50. Arthritis: Does TENS Pain Relief work? TENS or Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation is a non-invasive, drug-free method of pain relief. It is ideal for the treatment of arthritis. Pads are placed on or near the area of pain. TENS uses soothing pulses that are sent via the pads through the skin and along the nerve fibres. The pulses suppress pain signals to the brain. TENS also encourages the body to produce higher levels of its own natural pain killing chemicals called Endorphins and Encephalins.
In many cases, this stimulation will greatly reduce or eliminate pain. Relief may continue for several hours after the unit has been switched off. For many, relief is so dramatic that using our units has changed their lives.
All Body Clock units are CE marked, complying with stringent EU medical device regulations. CE marking is recognised worldwide. Or for more information visit: Arthritis Research Campaign
